CUSTOMIZABLE FEATURES
Pentium 4 Desktop Processor with Hyper-Threading
The Sting 917 gaming laptop outperforms most desktops and is rated as "the
fastest laptop on the planet" because of the full desktop P4 500 and
600 processor power it delivers. The 600 series P4 is a major performance boost with 2 megabytes
of level 2 cache (ultra fast memory). The 600 series
processor introduces the 64 bit extensions called EM64T, delivering
RAM totals over 4 GB and Microsoft's x64 (64 bit) edition of Widows XP.
Enhanced SpeedStep is also introduced, reducing power consumption by dynamically
adjusting voltage and core clock speed when the processor is not
in high demand.
The processor can be configured up to the P4 670
3.8 Ghz including Intel's Hyper-Threading technology. Hyper-Threading
allows the single processor to function as two logical processors,
effectively doubling performance in some cases. Additionally, the
P4 600 series has thermal management and cooling properties that
make it much more suitable for high performance gaming laptops
than the AMD Athlon 64 family that we prefer for desktops and towers.
[Configurable
from 3.0GHz to 3.8GHz Extreme Edition with 2 MB of Cache]
Windows XP Operating System with Service Pack 2 + CD and Manual
Unlike many of our more skimpy competitors, WidowPC provides the full operating
system with registration codes, shrink wrapped CDs and the Windows
manual. A recovery disk with all of the necessary drivers is also included,
just in case you want to start from scratch. Note that this is
impossible with Alienware and several other competitors as they
do not provide the full operating system but only a "recovery disk"
with an image of the hard drive as it was installed on your computer.
So, if they installed it wrong, you are stuck. Additionally, there
is no way to customize your own installation or install with different
hardware other than your original installation configuration.
[Choose
from Windows XP Home, XP Pro and XP Media Center Edition]
17 Inch Wide-Screen
Available in WUXGA 1900 x 1200 ClearView and WSXGA+ 1680 x 1050 GlassView
resolutions, the WidowPC Sting 917 gaming laptop once again beats
the other gaming laptop companies to the punch with higher resolution,
breathtaking visual real estate. WidowPC ClearView
technology virtually eliminates screen glare while increase detail
through a higher resolution than ever before accomplished in a
gaming laptop. While the GlassView technology makes for a ultra
crisp and clear display. This is perfect for greater range of view
in 3D games as well as digital content creation. It's also just cool!
Who can say no to a huge, ultra high resolution, crystal clear
LCD display?
[Configurable
from WUXGA ClearView to WSXGA+ GlassView]
Crucial DDR2 Memory
WidowPC uses Crucial RAM
in our gaming laptops. This significantly increases performance
over the generic ram our competitors use, as well as greatly
decreasing the probability of RAM failure. When choosing RAM, always stick
with a high quality brand. It saves money in the long term and
significantly increases performance. [Configurable
from 512 MB to 4 GB]
Dual Hard Drive and Dual Optical Drive Bays
For the first time in history, there is a laptop that can hold two
hard drives while sporting two optical drives with no tradeoffs.
This is a sweet machine and you'll find yourself awed when you
first see it up close. The slim form factor of the drives delivers
a ground breaking capacity for a total of 240 Gigs of hard drive
storage and two double layer DVD burners, the Sting 917 gaming
laptop is a digital media and gamers dream come true.
[Customize
up to 2 hard drives and up to two optical drives]
Revolutionary FuJitsu and Hitachi Serial SATA 150 Hard Drive Technology
The
Sting 917 gaming laptop now supports SATA-150 hard drive technology.
The Fujitsu and Hitachi SATA hard drives featured support a blazing transfer
rate of 150 MBps while ATA drives support a comparably slower rate
of 100 MBps. Additionally, eventually SATA hard drives will reach
transfer rates of 300 MBps and maybe even 600 MBps and you'll be
able to upgrade to those insanely fast drives using the same chassis.
Aside from increased compatibility with laptop systems, the SATA
interface also makes for a much more efficient RAID configuration.
The SATA interface also makes it possible to support native command
queuing, another first in the notebook market. Command queuing
adds a nice performance boost to the hard drive because it allows
for concurrent, multiple requests to the device. This is particularly
effective at speeding up total performance when used with the Intel
Pentium 4's Hyper-Threading or with dual core or dual processing
capability. To boil this technical topic down to the nuts and bolts
-- Fujitsu makes the fastest hard drives for the elite hardware
and gaming enthusiast.

220W Power Supply
Consistent, clean power is one of the most essential elements in a high
performance gaming laptop. Powerful hardware demands a lot of power
from the power supply. If it doesn't get the power then it will stall and
stutter. That is why WidowPC was the first gaming laptop company
to introduce a 220W power supply for a laptop. This herculean AC
adapter supplies ample power for a blazing P4 processor, graphics
card, dual hard drives, dual optical drives plus any peripherals
powered through the quad USB 2.0 ports. We've seen desktops less
powerful power supplies.
[Add
an additional power supply while you customize your laptop]
Cutting Edge Video Cards
This
gaming laptop powerhouse sports nVidia's GeForce 7800 GTX go
256MB or Quadro FX Go 1400 256MB graphics
cards all making use of the x16 PCI Express bus architecture and
next generation DDR3 dedicated video memory. DDR3 memory is a big
performance leap ahead of the DDR2 RAM used by most of our competitors.
Chips based on the DDR3 standard can run at speeds up to 800 MHz and deliver
data rates of up to 1.6 gigabits per second. This makes for much
faster games and less "rubber banding" and less client side lag
in MMOs like World of Warcraft and EverQuest 2.

Deluxe Carrying Cases

WidowPC Sting 917 comes with a free deluxe carrying case (black,
with shoulder strap and handle). It includes a document pouch inside
the main compartment, thick padding to protect your pristine hardware
from bumps and scratches and an outer compartment for your mouse,
AC adapter, etc. However, since this king of laptops weighs about
11 pounds you might consider upgrading the carrying case to a custom
designed laptop backpack.

Hey there, I just wanted to say that this is a killer rig. It played any game i threw at it and logged hundreds of hours of WoW, before it was stolen. So soon I will have another. Keep up the ass kicking Widow!

Hi guys,
What's the buzz on Yonah, the new dual core integrated cache chipset from intel? Any intention to use it in your machines?
-----
Doug,
We're not happy with the design of the dual core Intel chip. Unlike Intel, AMD's chip was designed from the ground up to be both 64 bit and to be dual core. So, the underlying design is there is support it. We believe Intel kind of made this a "rush job". Future generations of Intel's dual core chips will be better we think. But for now, Intel's dual core chips are something to stay away from.

I haven't even bought a Laptop yet and already had excellent contacts with their staff. I'll pass up on Dell's coupons and soon order me a rig with a GTX 7800 Go right here at WidowPc. :)
