WidowPC Gaming Computers - EA Gets Game Rights to LOTR Books
EA announced today that they were granted the game rights to the Lord of the Rings books for an undisclosed large sum of money. EA, as you probably know, already had the rights to make games about the LOTR movies. It's now has the rights to the beloved bible of high fantasy.
I'm not sure my inner geek will be able to withstand the monetization of what I consider a very special, almost mystical work of literature. In fact, I'd have been much happier if no one had received the rights to the games. But with the amount of money I'm sure was involved, that's dreamin'. In some ways, this is how I felt when I heard the books were being made into movies.
So, brace up hobbits. Let's hope that EA can channel Peter Jackson and breath some life into LOTR games that they previously have not shown.
