WidowPC Gaming Computers - Western Digital Ships 400GB SATA Drive
July 22nd - Western Digital (WD) announced availability of its 400 GByte Caviar SE16 harddrive for desktop computers. The device comes with 16 MByte cache and a platter speed of 7200 rpm. The company promises a data transfer rate of 150 MByte per second, following SATA specs.
However, as WidowPC fans, have known for almost two weeks, Hitachi released it's own version of the same drive several weeks ago and WidowPC has had it available and shipping with the Widow FX SLI gaming computer as well as the Arachnid SLI gaming computers.
We're surprised to see Western Digital so far behind Hitachi. We knew Hitachi was good. But we didn't realize WD (a very well respected company) would be so far behind this time around.
